Deep Dive: Character Concept and World-Building

This is a prime example of my core creative process: building complex characters from the ground up. This page goes beyond mere drawing to showcase the meticulous pre-production work required for animation.

I start with the visual design (messy hair, bulky jacket) and immediately define the psychological and narrative framework—listing key attributes like ‘moral alignment: chaotic nautical,’ ‘identity: nonbinary,’ and ‘personality: psycopaintic.’ I also include initial ideas for props and a color palette.

The finished drawing demonstrates the application of these notes.
